The Last Name

The last name is what unites families. You would never know the difference between a South Indian and a North Indian if it wasn’t for the last name. Without last names, we are a country of Indian citizens, and not imprisoned by our regional identities.

With the last name, you carry your family’s reputation. With the last name, you might be royalty or a common man. With the last name you may belong to a depressed class or the general category. With the last name you may be a superstar, a known face or just another person.Your last name may be your first identity. Your last name; that’s what your son will inherit from you.

BUT WHAT IF THERE WERE NO LAST NAMES? I believe, that the world would be a friendlier place. I believe that last names divide people into ethnicities, nationalities, regionalities, and religions. At long last, we are all humans, we belong to a single race. We all have blood flowing through our veins, and we all breathe the same air. So last names are of little significance…your real identity is your work and character…
