Society Imprisons My Soul

I’m no less imprisoned,

than a caged bird,

The society and its iron rods,

chain my soul in its walls,

They keep me incarcerated,

Their rules are no less than prison doors,

My thoughts lie unspoken,

My true opinion unheard,

My pain unexpressed,

My troubles lie unresolved,

Kill such thoughts that are rebellious or seditious,

Controversial or unconventional,

For you are a slave,

To my rules,

In my acceptance,

Lies your reputation,

In my acceptance lies your safety and your life,

So hush little bird,

Stay chained, stay quiet,

Stay silently pained.
