You Know What Hurts? (Poetry)

You know what hurts?

It isn’t the the fact that you left,

or the way you left,

It is the good memories that hurt,

Like hot steel on my wounds.

You know what hurts?

It isn’t that you said I was boring,

But what hurts is I lost my best friend,

who understood me like no one else.

You know what hurts?

It isn’t your anger,

but the beauty of your smile.

You know what hurts?

That you happily moved on,

While I’m stuck here with you,

As someone else becomes your whole life,

And I, I will remain a somebody,

Somebody you used to know.

What hurts the most is, I lost a part of myself, in trying to save you with me, forever.
